This directory contains browse .gif image and data of sea ice age
(MY and FY sea ice) flags derived from ASCAT and SSMIS for the
Arctic within the SCP's Arc region.  This data set is described in 

Lindell, D.B.; Long, D.G. Multiyear Arctic Ice Classification Using ASCAT and SSMIS. 
Remote Sens. 2016, 8, 294.

The sea ice age flag data is on the same 4.45 km polar stereographic
grid as ASCAT slice enhanced resolution SIR images produced by the 
Scatterometer Climate Record Pathfinder.  The resolution of browse
.gif images has been reduced by a factor of two for presentation.

The flag values stored in the SIR array are:

 -2 : no data
 -1 : land
  0 : ocean  
  1 : first year (FY) ice
  2 : multi year (MY) ice
